Justice League issue 3 review

It’s a lot of big action/little content issue of the title, sure you can make the case that it does set up things for future issue of the title with three past villains of the Justice League showing up or having their names dropped in this issue, but also haven’t week come to expect that kind of writing from Geoff Johns? I know it’s easy to pick on Geoff Johns because of his consistent almost formulaic writing style, and that’s not what I want to do here. Like I said prior this issue doesn’t hope a lot of content in it, at least for me anyways, the big thing in it is this high passed action with most of its story being driven in the Cyborg narrative. I did find the approach to Diana (Wonder Woman) to be better then it has been in the past and I can see how this character would eventually develop into the character we are seeing in the Brian Azzarello title of Wonder Woman. It is also interesting to see how the character of Victor Stone becomes Cyborg, and because of the nature of the accident that leads him to become Cyborg we see a connection to Darkseid. When reading this issue for the first time I found that I didn’t really enjoy it all that much and was very critical of it, but after giving it some time to settle and a second read through I find I found more enjoyment out of the simple story with subtle to a larger story. Where I did have a lot of problems my first read through was this idea of these classic characters diametric/black and white personalities, and not being as fully formed as we knew them before, but on the second read through I can see that it could be argued since this book is taking place in the past that the characters would be simpler and more innocent to the shades of gray that would eventually form them into fully formed characters with a understanding of that not everything that should be done can’t necessarily be done. Anyways this going through and giving a second read through has given me an idea to reread the entire first story arch after it has been completed just to give it a second chase and maybe redeem itself to me as the whole story.

P.s. Sorry for the delay in the review I have been swamped with school this last month, but should be calmed down for the next couple of weeks thanks to my classes and finals being over. So with that said hopefully the review for Justice League issue 4 will be out in a timely manner.
